Research Interest
In my master's thesis, I am investigating the ecological correlates of convergent foreleg morphology in Mantodea.
I am using a landmark-based geometric morphometric approach to record and analyze the shape variance of the femur and tibia of the raptorial forelegs. I am examining factors that may influence the shape variance in raptorial forelegs. Therefore, I am taking various ecological factors such as mimicry, hunting strategies, and microhabitat into account, and investigating whether these factors influence the convergence in the shape of raptorial forelegs in Mantodea. In addition, I am investigating the covariance and modularity between the femur and tibia in relation to the ecological factors.
