Welcome to the Lamarckzirkel!

We are an independent, non-hierarchical and voluntarily organized association of young people, which is primarily dedicated to nature observation and nature conservation. We regularly organize presentations (Zirkelabende), an ornithological working group (Ornitreff), excursions, fieldwork and seminar weeks. We are interested in and linked by various topics from the fields of landscape ecology, botany, zoology and geology. The Lamarck Circle is organized in a decentralized way and therefore thrives on the voluntary initiatives of all participants. We see ourselves as a space for inclusive and respectful cooperation, with the following goals:

  • Democratization of knowledge
  • Sharing enthusiasm about the diversity of our environment
  • Joint understanding of and contravention of problems in our interaction with the world around us

The Lamarck Circle was founded in 1953 by Werner Rothmaler and named after the evolutionary biologist Jean Baptiste de Lamarck.

We are closely associated with the (DJN) Jugendbund für Naturbeobachtung. You can find the annual program of the DJN here.
