The Zoological Museum forms a unit together with the Zoological Institute of the University of Greifswald. The extensive collections are the basis of scientific research (e.g. the insect collection) and serve student education (teaching and demonstration collection). In addition, part of the teaching collection (the so-called public collection) is open to all visitors interested in animal science via guided tours. The museum is part of the Department of General and Systematic Zoology.
