With 'Arrival and Orientation', the university welcomes new students to Stralsund - with words of welcome from the rectorate, campus tours, introductory events for the respective degree programmes and formats to get to know the new fellow students. This welcome for new Master's students - traditionally for the summer semester - starts on Monday, 17 March. New this year: Bachelor's students from the Business Administration programme will also be included. We have identified a need," explains Rector Prof. Dr. Ralph Sonntag, "some students don't start studying immediately after graduation, but they also don't take a year. We want to accommodate these students - by opening up the Business Administration programme for the first time'.

Modern programmes in demand

The university's programmes offer a solid foundation and individual focus. In STEM, and more specifically in technology, there are interesting programmes across all faculties, such as Motorsport Engineering and Digital Health Technology. The latter will be launched in September. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science has adapted the former Medical Information Management and eHealth programme to the needs of students and the market.
Ongoing research projects such as 'Nahversorgt' on healthcare in rural areas give students the opportunity to get involved during their studies, while student initiatives such as the racing teams Baltic Racing, MariTeam, ThaiGer and Sundspace combine their studies with practical applications and hobbies.

The 14 Master's programmes

… in which the newcomers will start are Mechanical Engineering, Simulation and System Design, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Medical Technology Systems, Renewable Energy and E-Mobility, Applied Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Health Economics, International Innovation Management, Management in Small and Medium Enterprises, Tourism Development Strategies, Corporate Taxation and Business Informatics.
They are designed for a standard study period of two to four semesters. International Innovation Management, Renewable Energy and E-Mobility, Simulation and System Design and Tourism Development Strategies (if studied over two semesters) are taught in English only, while Medical Technology Systems, for example, is specifically designed for career changers (perhaps of particular interest to recent business graduates).

The 'Arrival and Orientation' programme

begins on Monday 17 March with a welcome by the Rectorate, the General Student Committee and the Student Parliament.
In the morning, the University will provide an overview of the administrative services, student committees and university associations. New students will receive the HOST welcome bag with information and study materials. In the afternoon, there are guided tours of the campus, faculties and library. During the first weeks of the semester, student councils, clubs and project teams organise a variety of introductory events on campus. The programme is sent out by e-mail and published in the Student Events Calendar.

Planned events include

City rally with the International Event Point
IT onboarding with Sund-Xplosion e.V.
Barbecue with Baltic Racing and the ThaiGer-H2-Racing-Team
Taster session and games evening with the Leo Club
Pizza and games with the AStA
Special introductory offers from the ETI student council
The HOST-Card will be issued on Monday, 17 March, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Student Secretariat, House 1, Room 118. No appointment is necessary.
International students will receive the HOST Card at a later date and will be informed of this when they enrol in person.
