On May 7, 2025, the kick-off event of the Central Scientific Institution ROCINI took place at the University of Rostock. In front of around 50 guests, the new spokesperson, Prof. Christian Haubelt, presented the goals of ROCINI. Prof. Ursula van Rienen, the former spokesperson of ROCINI, explained the institution's development, which emerged from the Integrated Research Training Group "welisa" and our Collaborative Research Center 1270 “ELAINE”.
ROCINI was established to ensure research excellence in Rostock and to strengthen the competitiveness of the University of Rostock and Rostock University Medical Center. Initially, it was created as a virtual centre and later solidified as a Central Scientific Institution.
A highlight of the event was Prof. Thorsten Buzug's presentation on innovative materials, such as magnetic nanoparticles, which are used in imaging diagnostics.
