Can reconciliation be organised spatially? In a joint seminar, students from Wismar and Rostock focussed on the topic of „reconciliation”. The importance of places, movements, gestures, materials and perceptions for reconciliation processes were examined. The central question was what a place for reconciliation could look like and how it could be designed. Ideas for the design of the Chapel of Reconciliation in Marienkirche in Rostock were developed. The exhibition shows the students' results using models.
The Marienkirche in the Hanseatic City of Rostock is architecturally part of the Brick Gothic style in northern Germany. It was built in the 13th century.
Supervised by Prof. Bettina Menzel, Interior Design course, Faculty of Architecture and Design, Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with Dr. Alexander Dietz, Faculty of Theology, University of Rostock.
