On 23 May, our department of Maritime Studies, System Engineering and Logistics in Rostock-Warnemünde hosted its 9th sporting campus event. Fortunately, the rather critical weather forecasts did not materialise completely during the course of the event, so that nobody stood or ran in the rain.
For the first time and completely surprisingly in view of the weather forecasts, the number of participants reached a three-digit figure, which was mainly due to the large number of latecomers and on-site registrants. Eight little running fans took up the challenge of the 3-cable-length run and showed great motivation and fun by running around the cooling pond on the Warnemünde campus. The same goes for the "big ones", who, in addition to their running activity and their personal timing devices, were particularly focussed on the good atmosphere during their 3- and 5-mile runs in the Warnemünde area.
The student club "Sumpf e.V." once again reliably provided all those present with barbecued food and drinks and was well prepared for the crowd of sporty campus guests. Last but not least, it is thanks to the overall smooth running of the event that everyone involved had a sociable and varied Friday afternoon.
Next year will see the 10th anniversary of the Warnemünde launch - with the best (running) weather, of course!
